Farmer Wedding Anniversary Celebrated
Wedding Anniversary Celebrated The thirty-fifth wedding anniversary of A. H. and Hannah Farmer was appropriately celebrated, Thursday January 13th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Stine, a short distance west of Cisne. An interesting feature of the occasion was that the celebration occurred in the same house in which the marriage occurred. Among those present were Joseph Blakely, aged 87; Stephen Stine, 80; James Brown, 65. Many more of their friends and relatives met at the old house of Mrs. Farmer to help make the occasion a pleasant one. Among the guest was a nephew of Mr. Farmer, of Dewitt County. The friends met at about half past 10 o’clock and passed the time talking over old times until one o’clock when dinner was ready and they all gathered around the old family board and did full justice to the roasted turkey and many other good things we find on the tables of our Wayne County homes. On the table was a dish of Ben Davis apples, clothed in all their beauty, which caused our Colorado friends to look in wonder and amazement and exclaim “What beautiful apples Wayne County can produce!” After dinner about two hours were spent in social chatting and a few old songs were sung by the old folks, with A. C. Stine at the organ, uniting their voices together perhaps for the last time on this side of eternity. Mr. Camp the artist gathered the folks in the front yard and took their pictures. After this, they all wished that Mr. and Mrs. Farmer might live long and enjoy many more anniversaries and all went home fully satisfied with the day’s enjoyment.
