W. A. Tibbs Writes.
Cape Girardean, MO. I was born Sept. 12, 1867, in old Wayne county, on the banks of old "Dry Fork," on the farm known as the Charley Tibbs farm, but lived in Fairfield until I was 20 years old. I am a son of David Tibbs, whom many of the readers of the PRESS well know. I came to Malden, Mo., August 6, 1886, and have made southeast Missouri my home ever since that time. I am engaged in the sawmill business. We cut about 15,000 feet of lumber per day. I would like to live in Wayne county, but the timber does not grow tall enough there any more. My latch string in Cape Girardeau, still hangs on the outside. If any one comes this way I will show them the best town on the banks of the Mississippi, of its size. Wish the PRESS and readers a happy and prosperous New Year. Wayne County Illinois Press. February 8, 1912. Submitted by Betty Beeson
