Silas C. Garen, Estate.
To the Honorable Justin Harlan Judge of the Circuit Court of the county of Wayne and State of Illinois at the August Term thereof A. D. 1849. Your Petitioner Rigdon B. Slocumb administrator of all and singular &c, of Silas C. Garen deceased, would respectly shew unto your Honor that said Silas C. Gared departed this life some time in the year 1842, dying seized of the following described real estate to wit: The South half of the North West quarter of section twenty one, and the West half of the South West quarter of section twenty one, all in township one south of Range eight east. Your petitionwe would further shew that said deceased left the following children his heirs at law, viz: Samantha, Sarah Ellen, Epinetas Ann, Elizabeth, Marada Adeline and Mary Catherine Garen; all of them are minors except the said Samantha. Your petitioner would further represent that he has been appointed administrator of the estate of said deceased. That he has fully administered said estate, and finds the same insufficient to pay the just claims and charges against said estate; That the amount of said personal estate which has come to the hands of your petitioner is $311.92 1/2; That the amount of claims filed against said estate is $513.21; leaving a deficiency of assets to pay said claims amounting to $201.27 1/2. Your petitioner would therefore pray that said Samantha, Sarah Ellen, Epinetas Ann, Elizabeth, Marada Adeline and Mary Catherine Garen, be made defendants to this petition. That a Guardian ad litem be appointed to litigate and defend for said infant defendants herein; That your petitioner be decreed to sell said lands, the proceeds thereof to be assets in his hands; and that your Honor grant such other and further relief & c. and your petitioner as is duty bound will ever pray.
